- The app will allow users to share Siri interactions and feedback with Apple.
- The ‘Siri Speech Study’ is invite-only, with no way to sign-up.
Recently, Apple released an invite-only ‘Siri Speech Study’ app to help improve Siri, as uncovered by TechCrunch. The app can only be downloaded via a direct link and does not show up on the App Store otherwise.
According to TechCrunch, the app first appeared in the App Store on August 9th and was updated on the 18th. The app’s purpose is to allow users to voluntarily share Siri interactions and other Siri-related feedback with Apple. This will hopefully help Apple to improve Siri functionality.
The app is reportedly available in the U.S., Canada, Germany, France, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, and Taiwan, and does not show up in the App Store unless via a direct link.
Within the app, users can simply sign an agreement and enter a valid participant ID to begin. Apple clarified some details when speaking to TechCrunch.
Apple told TechCrunch the app is only being used for Siri product improvements, by offering a way for participants to share feedback directly with Apple. The company also explained people have to be invited to the study — there isn’t a way for consumers to sign up to join.
Apple also noted no user information is collected or used in the app, except the data directly provided by participants.
