Apple announces 9th-generation iPad
- A13 Bionic, Center Stage, and True Tone added.
- The new iPad starts from $329.
Apple has just announced the 9th-generation base iPad at their "California streaming" event.
The 9th-pen iPad debuts with a A13 Bionic chip, bringing 20% faster overall performance. The design has been kept unchanged, and still supports the first-gen Apple Pencil. Apple says the new chip helps the cameras focus better. Speaking of cameras, the selfie camera has been upgraded to support Center Stage, with a ultra-wide 122 degree field of view, same as the M1 iPad Pros.
Like the other iPads, it now supports True Tone, allowing the display to adapt to the light around it to change the color temperature. The new iPad starts at $329 with 64GB of storage, $299 for education markets, and comes in silver or space gray. Interestingly, Apple bundles a 20W USB-C power adapter in the box, unlike the iPhones.
