Local Apple News coverage expands to Canada
- Apple News local coverage has expanded to two cities in Canada.
- It will now be available in Toronto and Montreal and includes news from local sources there.
Apple News has reportedly started to expand its local news coverage to Canada, starting in Toronto and Montreal. This follows Apple’s recent expansion of the service throughout the United States.
The service first launched in 2020 and has since become available in 11 areas: the Bay Area, Charlotte, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, and Washington DC. With the service expanding to Canada, it will feature local news from sources including TV News, Toronto Star, La Presse, and Narcity in Toronto and Montreal.

The move to expand into Canada follows the expansion of the service to Charlotte, Miami, and Washington D.C. last October.
With Apple expanding its local news coverage in the Apple News app, other upcoming rumored changes include new sports content and more. With the announcement of iOS 16 coming in only a number of months, it will be interesting to see what new changes Apple brings to the Apple News platform.
