- Apple has reportedly delayed the production of the next Vision Pro model.
- A new, more affordable Vision Pro is expected in late 2025 or early 2026.
- Possible feature cuts include EyeSight display and lower processing power.
- Apple is also exploring making Vision Pro a tethered device to cut costs.
- AR smartglasses are reportedly set for a 2027 release.
Apple has informed its suppliers of Vision Pro components about plans to delay production of the next Vision Pro model. Initially, Apple intended to launch a cheaper version of the Vision Pro with fewer features after the debut model. However, the company is facing challenges in achieving this goal.
Despite the delays, reports suggest that Apple plans to debut the lite Vision Pro in late 2025 or early 2026. This follows the recent WWDC, where Apple announced new regional availability and enterprise APIs. A more flexible entry-level spatial computing device is expected to broaden the user base after the device’s initial release.

Bloomberg has reported that Apple’s Vision Pro is encountering production difficulties, leading top executives to reevaluate the device’s roadmap. Discussions are ongoing about how to improve distribution and adoption through a cheaper model. The forecasted price for the more affordable Vision Pro is between $1,500 and $2,000.
Apple has codenamed the prototype device “N107” but has not yet named the cheaper Vision Pro. This price range, though lower, is still higher than most major XR headsets, including the Quest Pro, which was criticized for its high starting price of $1,499 (now about $999.99).
In its effort to reduce costs, Apple is considering removing features such as the EyeSight display, which shows users' eyes on the outer shell of the device. Other potential reductions include lowering the power of the processing chip, the passthrough quality, and the field of view width. There are also discussions about making the Vision Pro a tethered device, requiring it to connect to an external device for processing, which could impact its mobility.

Meanwhile, Apple is also developing a dedicated pair of AR smartglasses with a projected release window of 2027. At WWDC, Apple announced that the Vision Pro will be available for pre-order in eight new regions globally this month, with deliveries expected early next month.
Pre-orders will open on June 13 for China, Japan, and Singapore, with prices set at 24,502 CNY, 484,415 JPY, and 4,725 SGD, respectively. Pre-orders for Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom will start later in the month on June 28, with general availability beginning on July 12. The package includes various accessories such as a solo knit band, dual loop band, personalized light seal, and ZEISS Optical Prescription inserts.
