Spotify confirms plans to support AirPlay 2
- Spotify has updated a community post with new information about AirPlay 2 support.
- The post previously claimed that, due to compatibility issues, the feature wouldn’t be supported any time soon.
Spotify has confirmed that it will support AirPlay 2, despite saying that its plans to support the feature have been delayed.
According to a representative on an online forum post, Spotify recently paused efforts to support AirPlay 2 due to “audio driver compatibility issues” and said that it is a “bigger project that we won’t be able to complete in the foreseeable future”.
The company has now updated that post to confirm that the information was incorrect and it will support AirPlay 2 and is “working to make that a reality”. Spotify has been criticized for not supporting the feature, despite launching multiple lawsuits against Apple that accuse them of limiting access to services like Siri, HomePod, and Apple Watch.

It is not clear when the feature will launch, but it will allow Spotify users to stream music and podcasts to AirPlay 2-compatible smart TVs, speakers, and Apple devices. Currently, users may need to use Chromecast or Bluetooth to do so.
