A first-generation iPhone hoping to get $50,000 at auction
- A first-generation iPhone, listed on LCG Auctions, is expected to go for $50,000.
- The device was released in 2007 and is unopened.
- This is not the first vintage Apple product to go for a high price at auction.
A first-generation iPhone is up for auction, with an estimated value of $50,000, on LCG Auctions.
The 2007 phone, still sealed in its original packaging, was gifted to cosmetic tattoo artist Karen Green and never opened. Green had it appraised on the talk show "The Doctor & The Diva" in 2019, where the appraiser valued it at $5,000 due to it being an 8GB model and still in its original packaging. Since then, another first-generation iPhone sold at auction for $39,000, with experts suggesting this one could go for $50,000.

Apple enthusiasts have until February 19 to bid on the tech relic. It's the latest piece of Apple history up for auction, with previous sales including a prototype Apple-1 computer for over $677,000 and Steve Jobs' Birkenstock sandals for $218,750.
The first iPhone, introduced by Steve Jobs at MacWorld in 2007, was Apple's most successful product and changed the way people communicate and do many everyday tasks.
