Apple has officially revealed the new 2021 iMac powered by the Apple M1 chip. Unlike older generations, it comes with a completely new design. Apple has upgraded the camera sensors and speakers on the new iMac, claiming it brings low-light improvements. It comes in 7 new colors, just as the rumors had suggested. The iMac is 50% thinner, Apple said. From Apple:
Available in an array of vibrant colors to match a user’s personal style and brighten any space, iMac features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness, and over a billion colors, delivering a brilliant and vivid viewing experience.
The iMac has 50% faster graphics, and up to 80% faster CPU, according to Apple. It also brings 3 new mics bringing 'studio quality' recording to the new iMac, according to the company, with improvements also made to the FaceTime HD camera (it’s now 1080p). As for the display, the new iMac has a 4.5K Retina display, Apple said.
From Apple:
The new iMac also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, studio-quality mics, and a six-speaker sound system — the best camera and audio ever in a Mac. Also, Touch ID comes to iMac for the first time, making it easier than ever to securely log in, make purchases with Apple Pay, or switch user profiles with the touch of a finger.
The new iMac is available in Blue, Green, Pink, Silver, Yellow, Orange and Purple — however, the 7 core GPU model is only available in Blue, Green, Pink and Silver. The new iMac features a 24” 4.5k Retina over the 21” on previous generations. The iMac starts at $1,299 with 4 new stunning colors, and $1,499 with 7 new colors.
