Apple releases AirTag firmware update
- New firmware for AirTag is now available.
- It is not possible to manually update your AirTag to the latest version.
Apple just released a new firmware update for the AirTag. This new software version, numbered 1.0.291, didn’t include any release notes.
It is currently not clear what’s new, but follows Apple’s decision to improve anti-stalking capabilities with the previous update, released in June.
There is no way to manually update your AirTag. To ensure that the update arrives on your device over-the-air, keep the AirTag in range with the iPhone it is paired to. You can check the firmware version your AirTag is running by selecting the AirTag in the Find My app, and tapping on the battery percentage to reveal the version number.
