After it was reported in December that the iPhone SE fourth-generation could have been canceled or delayed until at least 2024, new reports from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo state that Apple has restarted the device’s development. [Update] Apple has restarted the iPhone SE 4 and will adopt an in-house 5G baseband chip. The significant decline in Qualcomm's Apple orders in the foreseeable future is a foregone conclusion. https://t.co/0MeZDFnbzg
According to a series of tweets from Kuo today, Apple is now working on the iPhone SE fourth-generation again, after pausing production at the end of 2022, and the device will be a “minor modification of the 6.1-inch iPhone 14.”
The iPhone SE fourth-generation will include a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, instead of the previous 4.7-inch LCD display, and will also be the first iPhone to include Apple’s new in-house 5G baseband chip, replacing the current Qualcomm modem. The device will also be limited to sub-6GHz bands of 5G, and will not feature faster mmWave 5G technology.

Though development of the device has restarted, it is likely that we won’t be seeing it until at least March of 2024. The current iPhone SE third-generation was launched in March 2022 and could be the last iPhone model ever to include the Home Button with Touch ID. The exact release date for the iPhone SE fourth-generation is unknown.
