Microsoft Teams to add CarPlay support and more soon
- Microsoft Teams will support Apple CarPlay this month.
- Other improvements, including an updated companion mode for mobile, have also been confirmed.
Microsoft has announced a number of new features coming to Microsoft Teams in the next few months, including support for CarPlay.
A dedicated CarPlay app is rolling out later this month and will let you join Teams calls when you’re on the move. You can also join calls using Siri, but like calls through WhatsApp, Telegram and other communication apps in CarPlay, you’ll only be able to use audio.
Microsoft also announced other updates to improve the meeting experience. Support for intelligent cameras, from providers like Poly and Jabra, is set to enable multiple video feeds, person recognition and other features powered by AI.
Microsoft Teams on iOS and Android is also getting an updated ‘companion’ mode for when you’re currently in a call on another device. This has actions for muting your microphone, sharing your screen, opening chat and more.
Finally, starting in 2022 it will be possible to use your Teams camera within a PowerPoint presentation, and present through Teams.
