Original Apple Watch added to vintage product list by Apple
- Apple today added the original Apple Watch to its vintage products list.
- This is the first Apple Watch to be added to the list.
Today, Apple updated its list of vintage and obsolete products to include the original 38mm and 42mm Apple Watch. The watch, originally released in 2015, became the first true smartwatch and pushed forward the wearables industry to where it is today.
After the watch's release in 2015, it was replaced by the Series 1 the next year and soon after, the Series 2. With Apple updating the Apple Watch lineup every year since, it has just unveiled the Series 7 and is expected to release it sometime this fall.
The original Apple Watch being added to Apple’s vintage products list marks the first time an Apple Watch has appeared on the list. The list includes devices that Apple stopped selling over five years ago and less than seven years ago.
Products that haven't been sold for over seven years are on Apple’s obsolete list and mostly don't qualify for any hardware service from Apple. However, most devices on the vintage list still qualify for some limited service.
Just this year, another fan-favorite product, the original 12-inch MacBook, was added to the vintage list. As Apple updates the lists periodically, we can expect more old Apple devices to be added soon.
