  • Primate Labs has launched Geekbench 6, an updated version of its cross-platform benchmarking suite.
  • The software is an upgrade from Geekbench 5, released in 2019, and has been designed to provide more accurate benchmark results that closely reflect real-world device performance.
  • The updated suite brings many new features to provide better benchmark results.

Primate Labs has released Geekbench 6, the latest version of its cross-platform benchmarking suite. The new upgrade is a significant improvement from the previous version, Geekbench 5, which was released in 2019. The new version of the software has been designed to support the latest hardware standards and provide benchmark results that closely reflect real-world device performance.

Geekbench 6 moves away from single-threaded CPU numbers and incorporates machine learning and other workloads that more accurately reflect how modern devices are used. The updated testing datasets have been replaced to better reflect the file types customers are likely to use in 2023, and to mimic workloads used by apps.

The updated software includes new tests that measure how people use their devices in true-to-life examples, such as background blur during video conferences, photo filters used by social media apps, object detection for AI workloads, and text processing for parsing and converting markdown and regex in Python. Multi-core benchmarking has been overhauled to measure how cores share workloads in true-to-life workload examples.

Geekbench 6 is free for non-commercial personal use, while the Pro version is available for $79 for the next two weeks thanks to a 20% launch discount. The Pro version of the software adds command-line automation, offline result management, and more. To download Geekbench 6, visit the Geekbench.com website.

Some of the features of the new Geekbench 6 include larger photos in resolutions captured by modern smartphones, HTML examples representative of modern web design standards, a larger library of images for import tests, larger maps for navigation tests, and bigger and more modern PDF examples. Primate Labs says that the new tests are designed to better reflect modern hardware and applications.

Overall, Geekbench 6 is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, providing more accurate and relevant benchmark results that better reflect the real-world performance of modern devices. The new software is a valuable tool for anyone looking to compare the performance of different devices across platforms.
