A tribute to Steve
Today marks the 10th anniversary since Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ passing, and we wanted to say our appreciation for him, as this entire website wouldn’t even exist without him! Whether you like or hate him, there is no doubt he has changed all of our lives with the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad and many other products. I asked the team “What is your favorite Apple device of all time?” and below are their responses.
Carlos:
The original iPad — one of my favorite Apple products of all time, the original iPad introduced a brand new market of devices, and brought power to small powerful portable devices while also maintaining to have a large display and optimized apps for it.
June:
My favorite Apple product has got to be the iPad 2. It was a gigantic leap from the original iPad, sporting a significantly thinner body while still remaining durable. It was a truly magical experience touching and swiping across the large Multi-Touch display with my finger all the way back in 2011. I also love the skeuomorphic interface of iOS 5, and I felt it fit the device perfectly.
Luka:
That’s a hard question. Apple made a lot of great products, but the Mac and iPad were my favourite ones. The Mac is a great computer for productivity. I just love how my MacBook runs with macOS. It’s great for school, work and other things. The iPad is a small device with such a great power.
Thomas:
The iPhone 4(s) — it was my first iPhone ever and it was well designed. The metal edges around the phone gave it a premium look and feel. And the phone was pocketable, nowadays we’re carrying mini iPads in our pockets.
Flynn:
iPhone 5 black — the iPhone I always wanted. I love the size, thinness and the contrast between the matte black and glossy glass. Also the fact that it has a flush camera lens on the back! It truly was the most perfect iPhone.
Sam:
The first generation iPad is probably one of my most favorite products that I’ve ever owned mostly because it was just cool to have one. I love how innovative it was compared to everyone else.
Yash:
iPhone X — The first iPhone revolutionized a decade of technology setting a path for all the other tech companies to follow. However, the iPhone X truly revolutionized the technological industry for the next decade paving a path for the future. Each and every aspect of its design, from the notch on the top to the thin slim display panels going all the around the edges to the very bottom and folding seamlessly underneath it, was, truly breathtaking. Face ID which was and is still the most advanced facial recognition system in the entire world, presented a new and more secure biometric authentication system in a mobile device.
Pedro:
MacBook Pro 2012 — the first MacBook that I owned has a special place. This MacBook allowed me to explore my creative side in a way it wasn’t possible with other technologies at the time. iMovie was the reason. Super intuitive and easy to use with so many important details. The back of the MacBook had the Apple logo glowing every time I opened it up and for that time it was so lightweight! Look how far we’ve come in such a short period of time.
Divi:
iPad 2 — the second-generation iPad was the first Apple product that I ever used, and it showed me what was possible in the world of new technology. I loved the light and sleek design, which isn’t really that light or sleek now, and I loved how I could visit websites and use apps on a large touchscreen device without needing a trackpad or keyboard. Comparing it with current iPads reminds me of how far Apple has come and how far it will go in the future.
