Over the past few days, we’ve seen a huge influx in Apple rumors from multiple different and reliable sources. Today, we’re going to go over some of the most interesting tidbits from these latest Apple rumors, ranging from MacBook Pro to the Apple Watch.
MacBook Pro:
Apple may launch refreshed 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with an improved M-series chip as soon as this summer, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (reliability: 84.38%). According to him, this upgraded Apple Silicon chip may include a 10-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores. Alongside an upgraded CPU, he also expects to see two GPU options — 16-core and 32-core.
In his report, Gurman noted that the next-generation Apple Silicon chip may support up to 64GB or memory. This is significantly higher than the current maximum, which is capped at 16GB on the 2020 M1 MacBook Pro model. The new chip may also support additional Thunderbolt ports for expanded connectivity, he said.
Alongside the aforementioned upgrades to M-series chip, Gurman also expects these updated MacBook Pro models to feature a redesigned chassis — with more ports, including an HDMI port, an SD card slot, and a MagSafe magnetic charging cable.
MacBook Air:
Apple may be working on a high-end version of the MacBook Air that will feature an improved iteration of the current M1 Apple Silicon chip, according to new reporting from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. He expects the refreshed models to feature improved graphics across the board — however, he expects it to keep the same number of high efficiency and high performance cores. Gurman expects Apple’s upgraded MacBook Air to launch around the end of this year.
For a redesigned, higher-end MacBook Air planned for as early as the end of the year, Apple is planning a direct successor to the M1 processor. That chip, codenamed Staten, will include the same number of computing cores as the M1 but run faster. It will also see the number of graphics cores increase from seven or eight to nine or 10.
Mac Pro:
A reinvented Apple Silicon Mac Pro may come in the beginning of 2022, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. According to him, there will be two versions of the device – one with a 20-core chip and another with a 40-core chip, while the GPU will have either 64 or 128 cores.
Apple Watch:
The upcoming Apple Watch Series 7 may feature a new flat-edge design, according to Apple leaker Jon Prosser (reliability: 88.46%). It may also be available in new colors, with Prosser specifically mentioning a new shade inspired by AirPods Max: green. The next Apple Watch is expected to be announced in the fall. A redesigned Apple Watch has been rumored ever since the 2020 release of the Apple Watch Series 6.
