- You can use the Studio Display as an external monitor for your PC.
- Macs later than 2016 are also supported, along with some iPads.
Apple has confirmed that the new Studio Display, which was announced alongside the Mac Studio, is compatible with Windows PCs. However, it will only supported limited features compared to the experience when used with a Mac.
The display can be connected to compatible PCs through USB-C or Thunderbolt 3, although Apple says screen resolution may vary depending on the system. The 12MP ultra-wide camera will also function as a normal webcam, but will not support Center Stage when connected to a PC.
In addition, only certain Mac models are compatible with the Studio Display. You’ll need a MacBook Pro (2016 or later), MacBook Air and Mac mini (2018 or later), Mac Pro (2019 or later), iMac (2017 or later), iMac Pro (2017) or Mac Studio. Your Mac will also need to be running macOS Monterey 12.3 or later.
iPad models are limited to the 5th-generation iPad Air, 11-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd-generation and later). The iPad mini and 4th-generation iPad Air are likely limited by the slower speeds of the USB-C port.
