Gurman: AirPods Pro 2 and redesigned iPad Pro coming in 2022
- Apple could release the new AirPods Pro and redesigned iPad Pro next year.
- AirPods Pro 2 could feature health tracking capabilities, and the new iPad Pro could get wireless charging features and more.
In the newest edition of Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, the Bloomberg reporter shared what he expects from Apple in 2022. This includes the new and improved AirPods Pro second generation, as well as a redesigned iPad Pro.
Mark Gurman (reliability: 84.38%) also still expects to see the new MacBook Pros and AirPods before the end of the year but doesn’t expect any groundbreaking product releases to happen until early 2022. According to Gurman, Apple will release many new products in 2022, including the new AirPods Pro, a redesigned iPad Pro, a new Mac Pro with Apple Silicon, a redesigned MacBook Air, and three new Apple Watch models.
Gurman and other Bloomberg reporters have previously stated that the new AirPods Pro will feature health tracking capabilities as well as a smaller design that eliminates or at least shrinks the stems. As for the redesigned iPad Pro, Apple is reportedly testing a new back glass with wireless charging support and reverse wireless charging, which would allow users to place other products, such as AirPods, on the back of the iPad to charge wirelessly.
In 2022, Apple could also release the highly anticipated mixed-reality headset which will reportedly combine virtual reality and augmented reality features. According to Gurman, Apple’s "true AR glasses" are still at least two years away.
Also, Gurman says Apple is working on new satellite communication technology which would allow future iPhones to send text messages and contact emergency services when not connected to a cellular connection. These features were previously reported to be included in the iPhone 13 but are reportedly not ready yet.
In his newsletter, Mark Gurman also shared his thoughts on the new iPhone 13 lineup as well as other products announced by Apple this past week, such as the new iPad mini and Apple Watch Series 7.
