90% of iPhones made within the last four years are now running iOS 14
- Nearly 90% of all recent iPhones are now running iOS 14.
- 85% of all active devices now run iOS 14 as well.
- The updated iOS 14 adoption numbers come just ahead of the 32nd annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC21).
According to new numbers from Apple, iOS 14 is now running on 90% of all iPhones released in the last four years. These numbers, measured by the App Store, are accurate as of June 3, 2021.
While 90% of recent iPhones are now running iOS 14, 8% are running iOS 13, and 2% are still running an earlier version of iOS.
As for all iOS devices, including those more than four years old, 85% are now running iOS 14, 8% are running iOS 13, and 7% are running an earlier version of iOS.
When looking at how these numbers compare to the iPadOS 14
adoption, it turns out that 1% more iPad users than iPhone users have moved to the newer platforms with 91% of iPads from within the last four years running iPadOS 14 and 8% running iPadOS 13.
As for all active iPads, old and new, there are many which do not support iPadOS 14 and, therefore, there are still 9% running iPadOS 13 and 12% running an older version than that.
Compared to Apple’s previously shared iOS 14 adoption numbers from February, these numbers show good growth from 86% of recent iPhones running iOS 14 then, to 90% running it now.
These reports from Apple about the adoption of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 come a few days before WWDC21 where Apple is expected to shift its main focus to iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 which will reportedly be announced then.
