  • Apple recently introduced tvOS 15 at WWDC21.
  • tvOS 15 brings new functionality to the Apple TV.

Cupertino recently hosted their long-awaited Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which showcased their latest software from the company, including tvOS 15. Although they didn’t talk about it too much in the event, the new iteration of tvOS brings new software capabilities to the Apple TV, including features such as SharePlay, Spatial Audio, and Smart AirPods routing, also on iOS 15. The latest edition to tvOS now brings SharePlay, which also debuts on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. SharePlay allows users to share their screen, shows or movies, or music in a FaceTime Call. Spatial Audio is now making its way to the Apple TV, only made possible using AirPods Pro or AirPods Max. If you own AirPods, tvOS will now give you a notification if you want to connect them to your Apple TV, for a private listening experience, for when your partner is sleeping.

Unfortunately, only Developer Betas are out for now. However it is expected for the Public Betas to be released in the upcoming weeks, and for the Stable Release of tvOS 15 to be released this fall.

tvOS 15 will also launch alongside iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and watchOS 8, as Apple releases the latest updates to its fleet of smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, and streaming devices.
