First Apple Watch Series 7 orders begin shipping
- Some customers’ Apple Watch Series 7 orders have begun shipping.
- The watch will arrive for some on Friday and will be available for purchase in-store then.
- Some Series 7 orders are delayed and won’t arrive for months.
The first Apple Watch Series 7 orders, slated for delivery on Friday, are starting to ship now. This weekend, the shipping status for some switched to ‘preparing to ship.’ As we know from the past, Apple tends not to specify a ‘shipped’ status until a later date even if the product has been in transit for a while already.
For Apple product shipments, Apple uses a two-stage shipping process. First, products are given to the delivery company with instructions not to deliver them until a specified date. This makes it possible for distribution companies to send the products to local distribution centers to maximize the change of launch-day delivery. Next, customers are delivered the products on launch-day.
Although the Apple Watch Series 7 did not get its rumored redesign, it does feature some updated components and features. It features an updated larger display, updated sensors, an S7 chip, and more.
Preorders opened on the 8th, and users are expected to have their new Apple Watches on Friday, October 15th. It was previously expected that the watch would be delayed, and that seems to be the case for some, with arrival dates slipping into several months from now. Only select Apple Stores are expected to have the Series 7 in-store on launch day.
