Apple redesigns Safari in iOS 15 Beta 6
- Apple has redesigned the tab bar in the latest iOS 15 Beta, bringing back part of the old design
- There is now an option to move the address bar to the top of the display
- It comes as Apple adjusted the design of Safari on iPadOS and macOS in previous betas
With iOS 15 Beta 6, Apple has redesigned Safari for the second time in months.
The new design incorporates the buttons from the old Safari UI (in iOS 14 and earlier) with the new address bar at the bottom of the display. Unlike previous iOS 15 betas, which had a floating ‘tab bar’ that hid most options behind a menu, this UI brings them back.
There is also an option to move the address bar to the top of the screen while keeping the icons at the bottom, effectively returning to the old Safari design. The reload button is also back.
It is no longer possible to revert to the old Safari redesign, which has disappointed many users who became used to it, which means whatever design choice you select, you’ll see buttons at the bottom of the screen.
The changes to Safari are significant, and suggest that Apple is listening closely to feedback from beta testers before the software updates come out to everyone this fall.
