iOS 15.1 Beta introduces ProRes Video
- This Morning Apple released iOS 15.1 Developer Beta.
- ProRes Video and Macro control is now available.w
ProRes Video is a new high-quality video format that can support up to 8K video resolution, a quality that is hard to find in a mobile phone and much more commonly found in professional video cameras which cost 5x more than an iPhone 13 Pro Max. When the iPhone 13 lineup was announced, ProRes video was announced to be coming later this fall, and no final date of when it would come.
Just over 3 weeks later, the new video format has now been included with iOS 15.1 Developer Beta.
Along with ProRes Video, there are now more manual controls that have been added for the new Macro Photography mode, which is also limited to the Pro models using the Ultra-Wide camera.
By going into the camera settings in the settings app, there is a new setting for 'Auto Macro'. When this feature is enabled the photo will automatically change to the Ultra-wide camera whenever the phone decides that it should, and when this setting is disabled, the user will have to change to the Ultra-Wide camera.
There has been no confirmation whether these features will come with the official iOS 15.1 release. However, it looks likely.
