Twitter Super Follows lists in-app purchase for every user
- Twitter’s new Super Follows feature seems to require an in-app purchase listing for every user that signs up.
- It could lead to thousands of in-app purchase options for Twitter listed in the App Store.
- Apple limits the number of in-app purchases to 10,000.
Earlier this week, Twitter started rolling out Super Follows in the U.S. This lets you pay a monthly fee to gain access to exclusive tweets from users with over 10,000 followers.
An image from Jane Manchun Wong has emerged today revealing individual in-app purchase listings for every user that becomes a Super Follower account. Twitter may have to set up each Super Follow as a separate in-app purchase that appears in the App Store.
Apple allows a maximum of 10,000 in-app purchase options for apps in the App Store, so it’s not clear how this system will be manageable long term for Twitter. Other apps, like YouTube, allow users to purchase a set amount that can be paid to a creator of their choice.
Twitter hasn’t commented on the issue, but says that Super Follows will launch globally on iOS in the next few weeks.
