Apple unlikely to hold any more events this year
- This year, redesigned iMac and MacBook Pro models, iPhone 13, AirTag, iPad Pro and more products were announced at dedicated events.
- In June, updates to iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and macOS were unveiled.
Apple isn’t expected to hold another special event this year, according to information shared by Mark Gurman on Saturday.
Last year, Apple held a rare November event where it unveiled the first Macs with its custom M1 chip. Despite a sketchy rumor claiming a redesigned iPod would be unveiled by the end of 2021, no more events are expected.
Apple has hosted four events this year, starting with an unexpected April event, where it announced a purple iPhone 12, AirTag, redesigned 24-inch iMac with M1 chip, new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models and an updated Apple TV 4K.
Apple showed off iOS 15, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8, tvOS 15, and macOS Monterey at WWDC in June. These updates include redesigned notifications, Focus modes, improvements to Maps and Messages, and much more.
In September, the Apple Watch Series 7 was announced with larger displays, more colours and a more durable design. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro,with A15 Bionic, brighter displays, smaller notch, camera improvements and larger batteries, were also unveiled and were made available the following week. The redesigned iPad mini, which features an A15 Bionic chip, 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and USB-C port, was also announced.
At its October event, Apple announced third-generation AirPods, with a new design, audio improvements, spatial audio support and a MagSafe-compatible charging case. It also showed off new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro modelswith an updated design, more ports, MagSafe charging, Liquid Retina XDR displays with ProMotion and M1 Pro and M1 Max chips.
It’s unclear whether Apple plans to refresh more products through a press release, but based on the number of products already updated this year, this doesn’t seem likely.
